KPT ELECTRIC MOTOR

The KPT is a drain type, single circuit fluid coupling. The inner bladed wheel acts as an impeller when the fluid coupling is used as a start up drive. The outer bladed wheel turns with the driving machine. Four calibrated bleed orifice plugs are screwed on the cover. The cover turns with the outer bladed wheel. These can be replaced with bleed orifices of a different size in order to optimize performances.

The KPT has an externally driven oil feeding pump and a remote electrically operated ON-OFF valve. When the valve is turned ON the fluid coupling circuit is fed. When it is turned OFF, rapid drain occurs through orifices located on the periphery of coupling. Start-stop can be operated either locally or from the control room. A 4-20 mA signal corresponding to the main motor absorbed current is fed to the board. Alarm signals (maximum temperature, oil filter clogging, feed motor overload, fan overload, overload controller), remote local status and a speed signal (4-20 mA or 0-10V) can be delivered to the control room. The input and output straight shafts will be connected to the electric motor and driven machine by gear couplings.

The shafts are made of forged steel 39 NiCrMo 3 (UNI 7845). The bearing carriers are steel Fe 42 (UNI7070). The impellers and turbines are made of aluminum G AlSi 9 (UNI 3051). The housing and oil tank are made up of steel Fe 42 (UNI 7070).

The KPT variable fill fluid coupling allows to disconnect the motor from the load granting the following advantages: • Motor start up at no load. • Shock and overload protection. • Absorption of vibrations. • Remote control. • Easy maintenance because of the external mounting of main accessories like the oil filter, feeding pump, and control valve.
